Battle Ram, particularly in its evolved form, is one of the highest rated cards in Clash Royale right now. It’s one of the best win cons right now, and with the evolution it becomes increasingly deadly. In this article I’ll give a brief overview of Battle Ram and what its evolution does, then I’ll look at three great decks featuring it!
How to Play Battle Ram + Battle Ram Evolution
Battle Ram is a 4-elixir win con that only targets buildings and towers. When you place the Battle Ram, it immediately begins charging towards the nearest structure. It gains speed quickly and charges similarly to Prince, Ram Rider, and others. It’s a fast threat that opponents have to deal with quickly, so it’s good for applying pressure. Winning with Battle Ram comes down to applying pressure at the right times, using the right cards to support the Ram, and hoping your opponents don’t have a ton of buildings.
Battle Ram’s evolution essentially increases its potential to do tower damage. With the evolution, when the Battle Ram makes initial contact with a structure, it doesn’t break like usual. Instead, it keeps ramming into the building and doing damage over and over again. This is obviously great since it increases the DPS, but it also makes it harder to respond to. Usually opponents can just accept the charge damage and deal with the Barbarians easily, while with the evolution they have to take out the Battle Ram directly.
Battle Ram + Royal Ghost + Three Musketeers

Cards:
- Battle Ram (Evo)
- Royal Ghost (Evo)
- Three Musketeers
- Hunter
- Fireball
- Ice Golem
- Barbarian Barrel
- Heal Spirit
This Battle Ram deck is highly rated in ranked play on RoyaleAPI, so it’s worth checking out. The evolved Royal Ghost is one of the best cards in the game right now, so it takes a prominent spot in this deck. Three Musketeers also show up here, and they’re arguably the most important card in the deck (other than Battle Ram). The Musketeers provide air and ground defense and apply pressure to both sides of the arena, so they’re essential. Combined with the evolved Battle Ram, they make a really strong push that’s difficult for opponents to break up.
For the rest of this deck, it mostly focuses on generally strong defense. One of the appeals to Battle Ram decks like this is that they can largely get away with playing almost entirely defense while relying on the Ram to do most of the work. Defensive cards like Hunter and Fireball are great for defending your side of the battlefield while you build up evolved Battle Rams to take out their towers. Ice Golem is also an essential defender, as he’s able to distract a vast majority of threats in the game.
Defense is the most important thing with this deck, and you have quite a few good troops to help with that. Royal Ghost (especially when evolved) is able to defend pretty well while Hunter, Fireball, and Barbarian Barrel all deal with specific threats. Then during the double elixir period you can start using Three Musketeers more aggressively to either defend or back up a Battle Ram push.
Battle Ram + P.E.K.K.A. + Furnace

Cards:
- Battle Ram (Evo)
- Furnace (Evo)
- P.E.K.K.A.
- Poison
- Bats
- Goblin Gang
- The Log
- Heal Spirit
A lot of Battle Ram decks seem to pair it up with P.E.K.K.A., and it’s easy to see why. Since Battle Ram is so strong for taking towers, it makes sense to pair it with a tank that also happens to double as an incredible defender. P.E.K.K.A.’s strength is his super high one-shot damage, which is perfect for chopping down other tanks as well as towers. Furnace then helps as the perfect support card for P.E.K.K.A., as it clears any waves that get near and does pretty decent damage itself.
While this is still a Battle Ram deck at its core, it functions more like a P.E.K.K.A. deck. There are good cards for backing up P.E.K.K.A. like Furnace, Goblin Gang, and Bats, and Poison is also really strong at defending pushes with those types of cards. If you can get P.E.K.K.A. under an enemy tower along with a Battle Ram, the tower is as good as destroyed already. Creating a large push with P.E.K.K.A., Goblin Gang, and Battle Ram (in double elixir, obviously) is extremely deadly since there’s not much that can be done to stop it.
Since this deck features P.E.K.K.A., it’s best to play according to your opponent’s deck. If they have a bunch of swarms or other troops that can easily distract P.E.K.K.A., it’s best to use her mostly for defense. However, if your opponent can’t easily deal with her, P.E.K.K.A. becomes a more essential part of your offensive plan. Battle Ram can handle most of the damage though, so if you can’t keep P.E.K.K.A. alive, just focus on supporting your Battle Rams with Poison as much as possible.
Battle Ram + Goblin Cage + Goblinstein

Cards:
- Battle Ram (Evo)
- Goblin Cage (Evo)
- Goblinstein
- Mini P.E.K.K.A.
- Minions
- Barbarian Barrel
- Guards
- Rage
This deck is by far the most aggressive of them so far. The main goal of this deck is to create massive pushes and defend them with Goblinstein’s champion ability. This makes swarms an ineffective counter to our attacks and forces opponents into specific options they may or may not have. To make this possible, I’ve included the Goblin Cage as the second evolution, since it’s so incredible at defending almost anything. Hog Rider, Ram Rider, random troops, etc. all fall to the evolved Goblin Cage, so it’s absolutely worth including.
For the offense here, the best pushes revolve around Goblinstein. His champion ability allows his scientist companion/creator to activate a chain lightning effect between the Goblinstein and the scientist. This takes out swarms between the two of them with ease and also does respectable damage to everything else. Then with Battle Ram in the mix, opponents can easily get overwhelmed with the amount of chaos happening. Then throw in Rage to make everything more chaotic and our other troops like Minions and Guards to help out too.
This deck highly benefits from an aggressive playstyle. Make sure to leave enough elixir up to activate Goblinstein’s champion ability and use cards like Mini P.E.K.K.A., Minions, and Guards carefully since they’re the main defense for this deck. Then use the leftover troops to make massive counter pushes led by either Goblinstein or Battle Ram. It’s all about offense here, but don’t let them take your towers out while you’re at it.
